Tijd voor de eerste start na 35 jaar stilstand! Omdat alles uit elkaar is geweest, kan het maar twee kanten op: of hij start gelijk, of hij start helemaal niet en er is ergens iets mis/vergeten. Met een spuitflesje de carburateur vol (Aspen 2) benzine laten lopen, choke uit, paar keer kickstarten en hij loopt! Ik dacht dat ik er bijna was: alleen nog de carburateur afstellen en dit project was voorlopig klaar. Maar de rook uit de uitlaat wordt niet minder, ondanks dat ik op (synthetische) Aspen 2T benzine rijd. En na een ritje drupt er 's nachts wat motorolie uit het blok. De oliekeerringen blijken door te zweten, niet alleen vanuit het carter langs de draaiende assen naar buiten, maar waarschijnlijk ook vanuit het carter langs de krukas naar de krukkast (vandaar de blauwe rook: hij verbrandt niet alleen 2-takt olie maar ook motorolie). Dit motorblok heb ik 600 kilometer geleden compleet gereviseerd, inclusief nieuwe lagers en wat toen heette een "race-krukas" (met een extra sterke drijfstang en big-end lager). Maar dat is wel 37 jaar geleden 🤨 Het lijkt erop dat de motorolie in die tijd de oliekeerringen heeft aangetast. Het gedeelte dat de as omsluit bestaat immers uit een heel dun randje flexibel rubber. Bij het uit elkaar halen van het motorblok blijken na 37 jaar de oliekeerringen helemaal te zijn uitgedroogd en verhard. Ze zijn daardoor zelfs iets gekrompen, zodat ze haast vanzelf uit hun zittingen vallen.
